In the erstwhile Hyderabad State, Karimnagar had the distinction of starting the first Higher Secondary School in the year 1944-45. With a gap of eleven years, the district had the distinction of starting the First Degree College in this region in the year 1956. After passing of time i.e., two and a half decades the Satavahana Institute of Post Graduate Studies was started with M.A. Economics and M.Com in 1980 under the direction of Sri K.S. Sharma, Sri V. Kondal Rao and Sri V. Rama Rao. The postgraduate centre at Karimnagar of Kakatiya University was upgraded as Satavahana University as per Act No. 29 of 2008 and GO.MS.No.160 dated: 07-08-2008 and the same was published in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette Part IV-B Extra Ordinary, Wednesday, September 24, 2008. The University has presently eleven courses i.e., M.A. in Economics, English, Telugu, Urdu, Sociology, M.Com, M.B.A., M.C.A., M.Sc.(Chemistry), M.Sc.(Computer Science) and B.Pharmacy.
The exam board will be conducted the semester exam in the academic year. Before that, the exam board of Satavahana University will be issued the SATU exam timetable to the students. The exam board will carry out the semester exam based on the exam date sheet. The official members of the exam board will be created the exam date sheet. Based on the exam date sheet, the students have to appear in the exam without fail. The exam board will upload the exam date sheet in the official site www.satavahana.ac.in.
Candidates who have successfully submitted the application form can only download the admit card from the university website. Admit card is a required document to sit for the exam.
It is candidate’s responsibility to make sure that, all the information which is mentioned on the admit card like Name, Date of Birth, Father’s Name, Roll Number and Exam Center etc. must be correct and verified with original documents.
Students have brought the admit card at the examination centre. Else they cannot enter the exam centre.

The University is affiliated to UGC and spreads across 200 acres of land.
