Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam has been established by Andhra Pradesh State Government G.O vide MS No: 89 Higher Education (UE.II) Department dated 25/06/2008, with a view to augment the education facilities in the Srikakulam District and to cater to the educational needs of the people of the district. With G.O MS No: 138 Higher Education (UE.II) department dated 28/07/2008, Prof. S.V. Sudhakar, Department of Social Work, Andhra University has been appointed as the First Vice-Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam and he assumed the office of the Vice–Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam on 28/07/2008. G.O. MS No: 159 Higher Education (UE.II) Department dated 07/08/2008 transferred the existing Andhra University Campus at Etcherla to the Administrative control of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University-Srikakulam. The State Government sanctioned 12 additional courses to this Centre, of which only four courses, viz., M.Com., M. Sc. Mathematics, B.L. and M.L.I. Sc. were actually started from the academic year 1988-1989 and two more courses viz. M.B.A. and M.L. were added in the year 1994. During the academic year 2005-2006, M.A. Education course was started and in the academic year 2006-2007, the University Administration introduced M.A. English, M.Sc. Organic Chemistry and M.C.A. Courses in the campus. Presently the campus has 12 P.G. courses catering to the needs of 802 Post Graduate students and 27 research scholars working for their M. Phil. and Ph.D., and is backed up by 59 faculty members (22 regular teachers, and 37 teaching associates) and 72 non-teaching staff members (23 regular, 41 employees with Time Scale and 8 Contract Employees). The University is located at Etcherla, Srikakulam District, Andhra Prdesh, India abutting the National Highway 5 (Chennai to Kolkata), and exactly 95 Kms away from Visakhapatnam towards Kolkata.

• In every course of study and category 85% of the available seats are reserved in favour of the Local Candidates from the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam belonging to Andhra University area.
• The remaining 15% seats can be competed by the locals and non-locals.
• Only local candidates are eligible for admission under NCC, PH, CAP, NSS and Sports categories.
• 33.33% of the seats in each course shall be reserved in favour of women candidates in each category. This rule of reservation shall not be applicable if women candidates selected on merit in each category form 33.33% or more of the seats therein.

The Directorate of admissions of Dr Br Ambedkar University looks after the admission of meritorious students to different types of course in the category of M.A Economics, M.Com, M.B.A, M.L.I.Sc, L.L.B -3 Years, L.L.B -5 Years, L.L.M -2 Years, M.Sc Mathematics, M.Ed., M.A English, M.Sc Organic Chemistry, M.C.A, M.Sc. Bio-Technology, M.A Social work, B.Ed Special Education(MR), M.Sc./Tech Geo-Physics/Geology, M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry, M.Sc. Physics, M.A. Telugu, B.Ed General plus M.Phil Full Time, M.Phil Part Time, Ph.D Full Time and Ph.D Part Time. It also offered courses in BA, Bcom, BSc and BBM. The interested student can obtain application directly for admission either from the directorate or from the sales centers specially arranged for the above purpose, by just paying prescribed fees in the form of demand Challan or demand draft.

B.R.Ambedkar University (BRAU) offers a number of UG courses in the field of Arts, Commerce, Science, Law and Education. In addition, it also offers bachelor’s degree in business administration. Duration of all these UG courses is 3 years except LL.B. (5 years).

Admission to the regular and integrated LL.B. course is done based on the rank obtained by the candidates in AP-LAWCET (Andhra Pradesh Common Entrance Test for law programmes.

Admission to all the other UG courses at BRAU is done on the basis of marks obtained at the 10+2 or equivalent level.

For admission in LL.M course, students are required to complete the graduation degree in the law field from any recognized university or college. Admissions to students will be given as per the rules and regulations set by the admission authority.

Online Exam Form of BRAU

B.R.Ambedkar University offers a plethora of courses at the postgraduate level under which includes M.A., M.Sc., M.B.A., M.C.A., M.Com., M.Ed., LL.M, M.Tech., M.L.I.Sc. degrees under various specialization subjects.

The M.A.degree is provided with five different specialization subjects and the M.Sc. degree is provided with seven different specializations. All the PG courses are offered for a duration of 2 years.

For admission to all the PG programmes except for M.B.A. and M.C.A., a candidate need to sit for AUCET (Andhra University Common Entrance Test) conducted by the university itself for various courses offered at the postgraduate level.
