About Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU)
The Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) was established on June 12, 1964 at Hyderabad.
The University was renamed as Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University on November 7th 1996 in honour and memory of an outstanding Parliamentarian Acharya N.G. Ranga, who rendered remarkable selfless service for the cause of farmers and is regarded as an outstanding educationist, kisan leader and freedom fighter.
The University was formally inaugurated on March 20, 1965 by Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Honble Prime Minister of India. Another significant milestone was the inauguration of the building programme of the University by Late Smt Indira Gandhi, the then Honble Prime Minister of India on June 23, 1966.
The university offers courses: graduate, post-graduate and PhD degrees.
Admissions in under-graduate courses are taken on basis of the performance of the candidates in the state-wide Engineering, Agriculture and medicine Common Entrance Test, EAMCET, conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
For Masters Degree courses admissions are based on the past academic record and performance in entrance test while for admission into PhD, the past academic record and performance in interview is the criterion for selection.
Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University has all the basic infrastructural facilities which include classrooms, farmlands, laboratories, computer facilities, workshops and hostels. The University has included amenities like Central Library, University Auditorium, Planning and Monitoring Cell, Research Infrastructure and Infrastructure for Transfer of Technology to facilitate teaching and research.
